Greg has mentioned that in the next week, with high temperatures expected in the 90's that we could set a record for the number of days in a single year above 90 for "all time, all location." Obviously the "all time" is since records have been kept, but does the "all location" mean all locations in NC or the Southeast or the US or in North America or the western hemisphere or etc.? We are having trouble believing that this could be an all time all world record.

MIKE MOSS SAYS:       Beth,    That's a good question - what Greg was actually referring to was "all of the locations that have served as the official reporting site for Raleigh," which is currently the Raleigh-Durham airport but which began with the "Raleigh Experiment Station, 2 miles SW of Raleigh" on January 1st, 1887. Among the entire series of official stations, the previous record for 90+ days in a year was 82 days at the Raleigh Municipal Airport in 1941. As of Tuesday afternoon, Oct 9, we had reached 90 or above at RDU 83 times this year.
