RALEIGH, N.C. — The cold front that brought us fall-like weather has cleared the area, and you'll be able to tell on Monday.

WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said dew points beginning to rise, so expect a warm week ahead and showers and storms by the weekend.

"It's this afternoon that you're going to notice the jump in humidity," Gardner said.

Temperatures will quickly return to the 90s on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with unsettled weather returning Thursday or Friday as a cold front slides through.

Even though the 80s will return by the end of the work week, Gardner said the humidity will be at its highest level.

7-Day Forecast

For those who are big fans of fall, don't be fooled just yet. Above-normal temperatures are back in the forecast for much of the month of September. There's a high confidence of above normal temperatures for North Carolina through Sept. 24.

Busy again in the tropics

Friday, Sept. 10, marked the peak of hurricane season. So far this tropical season, we have had 14 named storms, which is the average for an entire season.

Tropical Storm Nicholas was moving up the Gulf Coast Monday, threatening to bring heavy rain and floods to coastal areas of Texas, Mexico and Louisiana.

A system near the Bahamas has a 50% chance of development in the next five days.
