BROADWAY, N.C. — Crews were seen Sunday attempting to recover a 35-year-old man, who had fallen off a boat and into a body of water alongside Broadway Road near the Town of Broadway.

One man died in the accident, and three others managed to swim to shore.

According to officials, the four friends were boating together when the weight shifted, causing the boat to grow unsteady and tip over.

Friends Darius Woodward, Christopher McIver and Larry Brooks swam to shore.

Sadly, Terry McNeil, who was 35 years old and from the Wake County area, died. His body was recovered by crews.

Officials said they are not sure whether or not the men were wearing life jackets.
