WARRENTON, N.C. — A Warrenton police officer shot a man Saturday night after the man threatened him with a loaded gun, according to the town attorney.

Mitch Styers said Officer Julian Alford responded to a domestic dispute where he found three adults – two parents and a daughter.

When the man balked at the possibility of arrest and pulled a gun, Alford shot him in the leg, Styers said.

The shooting victim was taken to Maria Parham Medical Center, but was expected to be transported to Duke University Medical Center for treatment.

No other information is being released at this time. The State Bureau of Investigation will look into the case, as is standard in any officer-involved shooting.
