DURHAM, N.C. — The sixth suspect in a Durham abduction and murder case from last August was arrested last week in Guilford County and is in custody at the Durham County Detention Center.

Donovan Amire Bright, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, felony conspiracy, first-degree kidnapping and simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, and he will make a first court appearance on Wednesday.

Bright joins five others who are linked to the abduction of two teens from a Durham motel on Aug. 24. Dymond Patrice Fowler, 19, was found dead in a ditch. Her best friend, 17-year-old Alexis Patterson, was shot in the face but survived by pretending to be dead and later running to a nearby home for help.

According to the Durham County Sheriff's Office, Bright's arrest in Guilford County was unrelated to the Durham charges.
