Warrant: Cary Woman Had Laptops Billed to NC Chief Justice

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Cary woman faces a felony charge for allegedly buying computers and having the bills sent to North Carolina's chief justice.

Chloe Yvonne Brown, 49, of 110 S. Atley Lane, was charged on April 3 with one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.

According to a search warrant, last year, Brown posed as an employee with the state Administrative Office of the Courts and used a bogus purchase order form to buy two Dell laptops.

When Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Parker received bills for them, the Administrative Office of the Courts contacted the State Bureau of Investigation, which turned the case over to Cary police, the warrant said.
