Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

<b>APEX, N.C.</b> — A wanted woman surrendered to police after seeing herself on WRAL last week.<br />

Apex police were searching for Kristal Hill, 37. She was accused of targeting small businesses in an advertising scam.<br />

Investigators said she turned herself in to authorities after seeing a story about herself on WRAL. Since then, police said, several other victims have stepped forward across the state.
