Wake SPCA reduces adoption fees for 'Lucky 7' pit bulls
The SPCA of Wake County is hoping to help seven lucky pit bulls find new homes by the end of March by reducing their adoption fees.

Through March 31, the south Raleigh adoption center is reducing the adoption fees of the "Lucky 7" pit bulls to $17 in honor of St. Patrick's Day.
"For one reason or another, these fantastic dogs are being overlooked," Darci VanderSlik, spokesperson for the SPCA, said a statement. "Our goal is to adopt out all our pit bulls by the end of this month, to save even more lives. Reducing the adoption fees by over 80 percent is one way we're willing to go above and beyond to help these dogs strike it lucky."
WRAL reporter Tara Lynn volunteers at the Wake SPCA, where she photographs animals to help improve their chances of being adopted.
"I have a special place in my heart for pit bulls, as they are often unfairly overlooked," she said. "I enjoy spending some extra time with them."
Some of the dogs currently looking for homes include Mojo, a 3-year-old American Staffordshire mix, Sally, a 3-year-old female, and Zola, a 5-year-old female.
"Mojo cracks me up. He played and played during his time in the play yard. He is so gentle and sweet and didn't mind letting a smaller dog be the boss during a play date in the yard," Lynn said.
The Wake SPCA Pet Adoption Center is at 200 Petfinder Drive, off Tryon Road.
