RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County girls' softball coach was arrested Thursday and charged with nine counts of indecent liberties with a child, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

Raymond Lamar Green, 41, of 10116 Second Star Court, coached in various girls softball leagues in Wake County, authorities said.

The sheriff's office did not release any information about possible victims or say how Green might know them.

According to the city of Raleigh, Green did coach with Raleigh Parks and Recreation from 2009 until 2011.

It wasn't immediately clear where else he might have coached because investigators did not provide the names of any softball leagues.

Green was initially jailed under a $500,000 secured bond, but a judge lowered the amount to $100,000 during a court appearance Friday afternoon.

Green's attorney, Bill Young, said his client – a husband and father of three children – and family are shocked by the allegations.

"He's a 41-year-old man with not a speck on his criminal record," Young said. "We're just going to continue gathering information and continue working with the state to see what this is all about, to see if we can make some resolution."
