The Wake County Public School System's magnet program will hold its annual magnet schools fair on Nov. 3.

It's from 9 a.m. to noon at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. Representatives from all elementary to high school magnet schools will be there with information about their programs and more. Magnet program staff will attend to answer questions about the application process.

I found the fair very helpful as I navigated the system before my older daughter entered kindergarten two years ago. I highly recommend going if you're considering a magnet school in Wake.

The magnet program also offers information sessions on the first Thursday of the month through January. They are 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the program's office in Cary.

Also starting in November, schools will offer open houses starting Nov. 7 with elementary schools. If you're interested in a school's program, I highly recommend you visit it to get a better feel about whether it's the right fit for your child.

For all the details, including the full schedule of open houses and application information, check the magnet program's website.
