Wake schools administrator to teach English at $131K a year

David Holdzkom, who is keeping his salary, as stipulated in his contract, was the assistant superintendent of evaluation and research until Friday, when Superintendent Tony Tata removed him from the position.

School system administrators would not comment on the move because of personnel laws.

Holdzkom's move to the classroom comes a week after the district's longtime chief communications officer, Michael Evans, resigned.

Evans, whose annual salary was more than $125,000, has not said why he resigned, and a school system spokesman did not give a reason for his departure.

Several other employees at the school system’s central office have also been reassigned as part of Tata’s reorganization efforts.
