CARY, N.C. — A Wake County school bus was involved in a minor accident Monday morning near Southwest Maynard Road and West Chatham Street, police reported. None of the children on the bus was hurt, they said.

Police said a Honda rear-ended the bus, which was headed to Weatherstone Elementary School with 44 pupils aboard. An assistant principal who came to the scene also said all the children were fine, and the bus could continue to school.

Police said the car driver was surprised when the bus stopped before crossing railroad tracks on Southwest Maynard, where there was no train. State law requires school bus drivers to stop at all railroad crossings every time they come to one.
