Wake Forest shooting ruled an accident

The shooting occurred at about 4:30 p.m. at Autocare & Quick Lube, 303 E. Roosevelt Ave. Truman Lyons, 20, was shot in the leg, and three men fled the scene in a car, officials said.

Officers stopped an older-model Volvo that matched the description of the car in the shooting on Loghouse Street in the Crenshaw Hall subdivision a short time later. The driver was detained, but the other two men ran off.

One was arrested around 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Carolina Ale House. A manhunt ensued for the third, who was captured 20 minutes later inside the freezer of a soon-to-open Buffalo Brothers restaurant on Retail Drive, officials said.

Investigators have determined that Lyons was in the car with the other three men and that he shot himself in the leg while inspecting a handgun, officials said Tuesday. The other men fled after a wounded Lyons stumbled out of the car.

Anthony Evans and Branden Dinkins, no ages or addresses available, have been charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer. Both men were being held Tuesday in the Wake County jail under $1,500 bonds.

The driver of the car, whose name hasn't been released, hasn't been charged, but officials said the case remains under investigation and that more charges are pending.

Lyons was taken to WakeMed for treatment.
