Some great news for Wake Forest swimmers: Holding Park Pool will open on Saturday after a serious leak forced the delay of its traditional Memorial Day weekend opening.

Wake Forest officials originally thought they'd need more time to fix the pool and expected the pool to open in mid-June. The leak was causing a daily four to six-inch drop in the water level.

But earlier this week, according to a news release, contractors were able to repair the leak and the town received an operating permit from Wake County Environmental Services after passing an inspection.

The pool will be open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and will begin daily operations on June 11. This is a popular place for recreational swimming, along with swim lessons and other programs.

Click here for more on the pool, which is at 133 W. Owen Ave.
It also sits right next to a great park.
And I'm updating our database of public pools in the region now.
