Wake Forest man charged with drug trafficking

A Wake Forest man faces charges that he was trafficking heroin, according to an arrest warrant.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A Wake Forest man faces charges that he was trafficking heroin, according to an arrest warrant.

Austin Wayne Hawsey, 23, of 6341 Degrace Drive, faces two counts of trafficking opium or heroin and one count of conspiring to traffic opium or heroin.

The warrant states that authorities caught Hawey with between 4 and 14 grams of heroin in his possession.

He was placed in the Wake County jail under a $1 million bond.

Hawsey was on probation for an October drug-possession conviction, according to state Department of Correction records. He has 15 previous convictions, including assault by strangulation, violating a domestic violence order and drug possession, and has served one, 20-month prison term.
