WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A Wake Forest man faces charges after a juvenile he was with overdosed on synthetic marijuana.

Police arrested Zackary Alexander Mcroy, 21, of 6432 Willowlawn Dr., on Monday. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police said Mcroy gave three juveniles K2, which is often sold as incense. They said he called 911 after one of the juveniles became ill while smoking in his vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed five packages and a glass bowl used to smoke the synthetic marijuana, police said.

Mcroy and three others were transported to Wake Med for observation. The condition of the juvenile who overdosed was not known.

Police say K2 can lead to rapid heart rate, confusion, vomiting and, in some cases, death.

Mcroy’s first court appearance is Sept. 30.
