Wake County Human Services has decided to stop providing free caskets to families who can’t afford them, according to Public Affairs Manager Wil Glenn.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County Human Services has decided to stop providing free caskets to families who can’t afford them, according to Public Affairs Manager Wil Glenn.

County leaders said budget problems forced them to stop providing the pine boxes, which cost about $360 each.
