APEX, N.C. — As Wake County's population continues to grow, new schools are popping up all over.

School officials were in Cary Friday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony at White Oak Elementary School, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2016.

The three-story, 101,300-square-foot building will be able to serve about 780 students. The 2013 bond approved by Wake County voters will pay for the $25 million school.

Boomerang Design Architects designed the building, and Clancy and Theys Construction Company is handling the build, which is already well underway.

White Oak is one of 13 new schools scheduled to open in the county in the next three years.
