BURLINGTON, N.C. — Alamance County authorities on Tuesday arrested a volunteer firefighter from Richmond County following an Internet sex sting.

Allen Eugene Ivey, 39, of 1117 Avalon Drive in Rockingham, was charged with two counts of attempted indecent liberties with a minor and one count of felony dissemination of obscenity.

The Computer Crimes and Forensics Unit of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office launched an undercover investigation in May, with a deputy posing as a 13-year-old girl in an online chat room.

Using information gathered in the sting, Rockingham police searched Ivey's home last Thursday, authorities said.

Ivey is a volunteer fireman with North Side Fire Department in Richmond County.
