An old plane is turned into a play piece at Vollmer Farm, Bunn.

Vollmer Farm in Bunn is a popular fall destination with its big Back 40 Playground.

The farm, which features organic produce, will open up its huge playground to the public on weekends in October. The farm includes a jumping pillow, underground slide, corn crib, corn maze, hayride and more. (It's also open on other days for field trips. Vollmer's website has the details).

The farm is offering five Saturdays of movies-on-the-barn - outdoor, family-friendly features and a bonfire. Movies start around 6 p.m. (a start time that's much easier for little ones than the usual 9 p.m. start times for outdoor summer movies).

Here's the line up for October:

Oct. 3: Shaun the Sheep
Oct. 10: Disney Animation Studio Short Films Collection
Oct. 17: Paddington Bear
Oct. 24: The LEGO Movie

Oct. 31: Charlotte's Web

Admission, which includes play on the Back 40 Playground, plus the movie, is $14 for ages 3 to 64 and $10 for ages 65 and older. Starting at 5 p.m., you can take advantage of a discounted admission of $10, which includes the Back 40, bonfire and outdoor movie.

Vollmer also is offering free admission to some groups on certain days. Here's the schedule for that:

Oct. 3 to Oct. 4: Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and Scout Leaders (wear your uniform)
Oct. 10 to Oct. 11: All military (be sure to bring your ID)
Oct. 17 to Oct.18: Teacher and school staff (be sure to bring your ID)

Oct. 31 to Nov. 1: First responders (fire, police and paramedics) (be sure to bring your ID)

Vollmer Farm is about 30 minutes or so from various points in the Triangle.
