FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Dozens of Wake County school buses were vandalized over the weekend, slowing morning routes for students heading to school Monday, officials said.

Gas caps were removed from 29 buses in Fuquay-Varina and 14 in Holly Springs, said Bill Poston, spokesman for the Wake County school system.

There were no surveillance cameras in the bus parking lots, so school officials have no suspects in the case.

Twelve buses in the Fuquay-Varina area were late Monday, as drivers waited for new gas caps to be delivered. The latest bus arrived at West Lake Middle School about one hour behind schedule, Poston said.
