SANFORD, N.C. — One person was injured Tuesday morning when a van slammed into the showroom at Chatlee Boats, authorities said.

The passenger van crashed through the front of the boat dealership, at 2615 Jefferson Davis Highway, at about 9:15 a.m. after it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer while making a turn, said Trooper K.T. Hill of the state Highway Patrol.

Prentice Jackson Jr., 54, of Cameron, the driver of the van, was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for treatment of minor injuries, Hill said.

Charges are pending against the truck driver, Clinton Edwards, 28, of Bear Creek, Hill said.

Hill estimated damage to Chatlee Boats, including four or five boats that were hit during the wreck, at $150,000 to $200,000.
