CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Shoppers began lining up at 4 a.m. Saturday to purchase a piece of Tar Heel history. The athletics department yard sale at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill gives fans and collectors a chance to cash in.

The sale began Saturday at the Eddie Smith Field House at 7 a.m., and offers shoppers the opportunity to purchase more than 12,000 items, including 500 football jerseys, 100 pairs of Jordan brand basketball shoes, baseball bats, socks and towels.

All sales are final, and the sale runs through about noon. The department is also limiting sales of Jordan brand footwear to one pair per person, and the same applies for Nike argyle footwear.
