DURHAM, N.C. — Two men were taken into custody Friday afternoon after a 90-minute standoff with Durham police.

Police received a call shortly before 11:30 a.m. about a burglary in progress at 3705 Four Seasons Drive. The caller said he saw two people inside the home, police said.

The Durham Police Department's Select Enforcement Team surrounded the house, and negotiators talked the two men into surrendering. The men emerged from the house between 1 and 1:15 p.m.

Officers shot one of the men with two sponges toward the end of the standoff, but no one was injured in the incident.

Police were questioning Jose Marquet Simpson, 22, and Christopher Krone, 21, both of Durham, on Friday afternoon, but no charges had been filed in the case.
