Gasoline vapor exploded Tuesday evening at the Short Shop gas station on U.S. Highway 1 in Lakeview, according to Frank Staples, safety officer with the Circle V Fire Department.

<b>LAKEVIEW, N.C.</b> — Gasoline vapor exploded Tuesday evening at the Short Shop gas station on U.S. Highway 1 in Lakeview, according to Frank Staples, safety officer with the Circle V Fire Department.

Two men were using a power grinder on an underground fuel tank when the vapors exploded just before 7 p.m., Staples said.

The workers suffered minor burns, Staples said.
