Two Marines killed in S.C. wreck
Two Marines from Camp Lejeune died in a wreck in South Carolina last weekend, officials said Friday.
Posted — UpdatedCAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — Two Marines from Camp Lejeune died in a wreck in South Carolina last weekend, officials said Friday.
Lance Cpl. Robert J. Legassie, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Pfc. James E. Writt, of West Moreland, Pa., died in a single-vehicle accident near Spartanburg, S.C., last Saturday, officials said.
Both men were members of Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit. Legassie, the passenger, was a machine gunner, while Writt, the driver, was a rifleman.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
