Two killed in I-40 crash near Wake-Johnston line
Two people died and two others were injured when their disabled car was rear-ended early Sunday on Interstate 40 near the Wake County-Johnston County border.

According to the State Highway Patrol, Kevin Lamont Johnson, of 2801 Midway Park in Raleigh, was driving slowly in the far right westbound lane just after midnight because he had a flat tire.
As two cars approached Johnson's car from behind, the first was able to swerve to avoid it, but the second read-ended Johnson's car, killing him and Rickie Neal Richardson Jr., 48, of 402 Copperstone Drive in Fuquay-Varina, troopers said. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
Two others in the car – Felicia Johnson, 36, who was in the front seat, and a 5-year-old in the back seat – were taken to WakeMed. Troopers said Felicia Johnson was in fair condition.
The driver who hit Johnson's car, Jermaine Judd, of 6034 Colonial Drive in Raleigh, was checked out at the hospital but was not seriously injured. Troopers charged him with driving with a revoked license, but they said they don't anticipate adding charges related to the deaths.
Troopers asked that witnesses who may have seen the wreck or the disabled car beforehand to call them at 919-733-5027 to aid with the investigation.
