Man, woman killed in crash near Vass
Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a crash near Vass, according to authorities.
Posted — UpdatedVASS, N.C. — A man and a woman were killed early Sunday morning in a crash near Vass, according to authorities.
According to investigators, Walter Roosvelt Cook Jr., 28, of Aberdeen, and Ebony Ashley Byrd, 28, of Westend, were killed when their red Toyota Camry car crashed into a tree on Lakebay Road, near Lake Bay Church Road. The call for help came through at about 7 a.m., but according to authorities, the crash happened between 1:30 and 1:44 a.m. Cook and Byrd were not wearing seatbelts, according to investigators.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
