Two injured in southeast Durham shooting; man charged
A 31-year-old man was taken into custody early Wednesday after a driver and passenger in a car were injured in a shooting on Holloway Street in southeast Durham, police said.
Posted — UpdatedAndrew Demar Holman, of the 700 block of Holloway Street, is charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
A Durham Police Department spokesperson says the shooting happened at about 3:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Holloway Street. The people injured drove to Owen Street, about 2 miles away, to report the incident.
Authorities have not released their names, but officials said they are both men in their 20s. One person was in critical condition following the shooting, and the other person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the shooting, officers surrounded an apartment building on Holloway Street after being told that a possible suspect may have gone into the building. After more than four hours, the unidentified man surrendered to police. He was unarmed, authorities said.
The man was questioned by police late Wednesday morning before being taken to the Durham County jail. Information about possible charges has not been released.
