APEX, N.C. — An 11-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were struck by a car in front of Baucom Elementary School in Apex Friday afternoon.

The children, who are not related, were taken to WakeMed with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Their names weren't released.

Police said the children were running across Hunter Street near the intersection of Hinton Street, which is not a designated cross walk, when a Cadillac STS hit them around 3:20 p.m.

Speed did not appear to be a factor, and no charges were filed against the driver.
