Two charged in string of copper thefts
Two Goldsboro people were charged Tuesday in a string of break-ins in which copper wire and tubing were stolen, police said.
Posted — UpdatedMaya Lamont Arline, 31, of 310 Hollowell St., was charged with seven counts of felonious breaking and entering, six counts each of felonious larceny after breaking and entering and felonious possession of stolen goods and one count each of attempted felonious larceny and possession of burglary tools. Catherine Renee Muhammad, 31, also of 310 Hollowell St., was charged with one count each of breaking and entering and attempted larceny.
A concerned resident called police about two suspicious people on Country Day Road, and an officer found the two people and charged them with an attempted copper theft from a home on Bradford Place. Investigators later charged Arline in copper thefts from four homes on Kingston Circle and two on Kingsway Drive, all of which occurred in the past month.
Police said the seven crimes caused at least $18,000 in damage to the homes and involved about $15,800 in copper wire and tubing.
