Two arrested in Halifax County crime spree

Kendrell Robinson, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, is accused of striking a person's head and face with a handgun on Justice Branch Road Aug. 16. Roanoke Rapids police located Kendrell the next day and arrested him.

The victim is recovering, authorities said.

Littleton police and the sheriff's office determined that the handgun used in the assault was recently stolen from a house in Littleton. The firearm was also linked to the armed robbery of two people.

"This is a good example of local officers working together to fight crime throughout the Littleton area," said Detective Rich Somogyi, with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office and Littleton police charged Robinson with two counts each of felony conspiracy, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and communicating threats and one count each of robbery with a deadly weapon, assault inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and first-degree burglary.

The two agencies also charged Crashawn Montay Vincent, 23, of Littleton, with two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy and one count each of first-degree burglary, assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and assault inflicting serious injury.

Somogyi said additional charges are expected in the case.

Both men were being held in the Halifax County Detention Center. Robinson had a $100,000 secured bond, and Vincent had a $10,000 secured bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Robinson was released from prison on May 29, and Vincent was sentenced to probation April 22.

Robinson served a a 9-month sentence after his probation for two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle was revoked, DOC records show. He has previous larceny convictions.

Vincent got probation for resisting an officer. DOC records show he has previous convictions for drug offenses and disorderly conduct.
