Two arrested in connection with Raleigh drive-by shooting

Raleigh police on Sunday confirmed that they have made two arrests in connection with a shooting that wounded a 15-year-old boy March 26.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police on Sunday confirmed that they have made two arrests in connection with a shooting that wounded a 15-year-old Raleigh boy March 26.

The shooting happened in the front yard of a home at 125 Bertie Drive during a house party. Investigators say the boy was out in the yard shortly after 1 a.m. when someone in a dark red Cadillac drove by and opened fire.

The injured teen, whom police identified as David Lee Byrd, was shot in the stomach and taken to WakeMed with non-life threatening injuries.

Anthony Leon Evans, 21, and Justin Carlton Jones, 16, have been arrested in the case and were being held Monday in the Wake County jail. Evans is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy, while Jones is charged with felony possession a stolen firearm.
