RALEIGH, N.C. — Campus police were searching Friday for a tutor accused of fondling a North Carolina State University student.

The student told police that Lawrence A. Webster inappropriately touched her in a sexual way during their tutoring sessions at D.H. Hill Library.

Police said that, due to the nature of the incidents, they believed "there is an ongoing threat to the campus community" because Webster may have tutored other students.

Webster, 48, was described as a person of interest in this incident.

Officials said Saturday that Webster is not affiliated with the university.

Anyone with information about this or other possible incidents involving Webster or knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to call the N.C. State Police Department at 919-515-3000.
