Warm Monday on tap ahead of wet Tuesday
Runners in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half-Marathon were greeted with near freezing conditions Sunday morning, but temperatures rose throughout the day and will continue to do so on Monday.

After a morning that started out in the 20s and 30s for many, temperatures warmed into the 60s Sunday afternoon. For the start of the work week, temperatures are expected to be in the high 60s and low 70s for everybody, despite wind gusts that could reach 25 mph.
“Tomorrow is really a pretty day to get the work week started,” said WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth.
Monday’s predicted high temperature of 73 in Raleigh is a few degrees above normal for this time of year but far from the record-breaking high of 90 degrees.
Although temperatures aren’t expected to dip below freezing again for the remainder of the week, cooler weather will prevail again Tuesday as a cold front moves through, bringing rain for most of the day.
“Tuesday morning’s commute could be a bit of an issue. It seems like any time we have rain on the roads for the morning and evening commutes, we have some accidents,” said Wilmoth.
The region could see half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain by time the front moves out during the evening hours on Tuesday, leaving clear and dry skies through the weekend.
