RALEIGH, N.C. — Budget Held Hostage: Day 56

Still no state budget, and Rep. Nelson Dollar, R-Wake, said the third continuing resolution to keep state agencies operating until a new budget is approved will likely run through Sept. 15. The existing CR expires next Monday.

Meanwhile, state lawmakers continue to take in their per diems, and the tab on the extended legislative session is approaching $1.5 million – enough to fund a few dozen teaching assistant positions.
