RALEIGH, N.C. — A House committee approved a bill that would require DSS offices to inform law enforcement if someone with outstanding warrants applies for public benefits.

Two other House committees debated giving schools letter grades to reflect their performance and shifting control of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport from the city to a regional authority.

Meanwhile, a Senate committee discussed legislation that would raise fees on boat owners to pay for dredging coastal inlets.
