FOUR OAKS, N.C. — A man and a woman were injured Saturday evening in a single-car wreck when a pickup truck overturned and flipped several times.

According to troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at 8561 Stricklands Crossroads Road around 10:15 p.m.

Officials say the 2003 Ford Ranger went left of the center lane, ran off the road, hit two signs, overturned, hit a fence and flipped several times. A driver and passenger, both 16, suffered serious injuries in the wreck.

Officials say the woman, who had been driving, was pinned in the truck for two hours then airlifted to WakeMed. Her passenger was also transported to WakeMed.

According to state troopers, speed was a factor in the wreck. The woman was charged with careless and reckless driving and no operator's license.
