HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — The driver of a tanker truck that rolled over on Interstate 85 Wednesday morning has been charged with careless and reckless driving, authorities said.

Brannon Collier, 31, told troopers he swerved when a deer ran in front of his truck as he approached the I-85/I-40 split in Orange County.

Collier, who is a driver for Quality Carriers, suffered minor injuries, troopers said.

The crash closed several lanes while crews cleaned up a latex paint material that spilled from the truck.
