NEWTON GROVE, N.C. — State troopers have identified the victim in a Sunday hit-and-run on Lassiter Road outside Newtown Grove. They said the man was Hispanic, 24 years old and lived at 946 Cedar Point Road in Newton Grove, but did not release his name because his family has yet to be notified.

Troopers said the man was sitting or laying in the road at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when a vehicle struck and killed him. A person delivering newspapers found him at about 5 a.m.

Troopers are working with the State Bureau of Investigation on the case, but did not have any suspects or a description of the suspect vehicle.
