CLAYTON, N.C. — State troopers on Friday released the name of a man killed in a head-on collision with a FedEx truck near Clayton on Wednesday.

Bertram Satterfield, 53, of Clayton, was driving a 1999 Hyundai on Hood Farm Road around noon. Troopers said Satterfield's car crossed the center line and struck a FedEx truck head-on at the intersection with Little Creek Church Road.

Satterfield died in the accident, officials said.

The driver of the FedEx truck, David Fuquay, 38, of Clayton, and his passenger were taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.

Little Creek Church Road was shut down for about two hours while crews cleared the wreckage.
