FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Crews from three departments fought a fire at an abandoned Johnston County house in the early hours of Saturday.

A state trooper spotted the fire at 748 Devil's Racetrack Road, near Four Oaks, around 3:30 a.m. and called it in.

The trooper kicked in the door to see if anyone needed to be rescued, he didn't know the house was abandoned at that time. The intense heat prevented him from entering the house.

Dispatchers said flames had consumed much of the home when firefighters arrived.

No one was injured in the fire.  Investigators have not released the cause of the blaze.
