Trio of Kinston shootings leave three wounded
Police said Monday that they were investigating three separate shootings in Kinston on Sunday that left three people wounded.

The first shooting occurred shortly before 11 a.m. at 201 W. Highland Ave. Sterling Smith, 24, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, but his condition was unknown Monday.
Police issued a warrant for Jamell Howard, 26, on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He wasn't in custody Monday.
The second shooting occurred at about 2:30 p.m. in the area of George Avenue and Stadiem Drive. Officers found Khyric Jamal Alexander on the front porch of 705 Stadiem Drive with a gunshot wound to his left hand and arm. A home at 1507 George Ave. and a vehicle parked nearby also sustained damage from gunfire, police said.
At about 4:10 p.m., officers responded to the third shooting, at 501 JP Harrison Blvd. Marquez Williams had been shot in his pelvic and chest areas and was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. His condition was unknown Monday.
Police arrested Wesley Devon Warren, 33, on a charge of attempted murder, and he was being held in the Lenoir County jail under a $1 million bond.
