Triangle to host three-pronged math challenge for kids
The first Mathnasium Triathlon is set for Oct. 2 and will feature a math competition for third through seventh graders.
Posted — UpdatedAs the name suggests, the triathlon will feature three events which focus on different math concepts that kids should master in each grade. The events are: The Counting Game, which tests a student's ability to count from any number to any number by any number; Magic Squares, where students are awarded points for creativity in developing their own math problems; and Mental Math Workout, which asks students to solve given problems without pencil and paper.
All competitors will get a T-shirt and goody bag. Top winners will receive a medal and invitation to the state finals. Winners in the state finals and their school math programs will receive cash prizes.
