RALEIGH, N.C. — After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Rose's Meat Market and Sweet Shop is opening today! They will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The shop is a combination butcher and pastry store.
Pop-Up Ice Cream Parlour begins its limited summer engagement in downtown Raleigh today. It is located next to Gravy on Wilmington Street. They start scooping at 6 p.m. They will be operating there until the end of August. After that, they hope to find a permanent home in downtown.
Pop Up Ice Cream Parlour will operate next to Gravy on South Wilmington Street in Raleigh until Aug. 31, 2013.
One Blue Hill Restaurant opened this week in the Chapel Hill Sheraton. It is in the spot formerly known as Shula's 347. They specialize in contemporary southern cuisine, using fresh local ingredients. They also offer wine, cocktails and craft beer.
We are keeping an eye out for Zinburger Wine and Burger Bar, which is expected to open at The Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham this month. This chain offers gourmet burgers, salads, sides, milkshakes and wine. They will be located where Rockfish used to be.
Another burger joint on our radar - Elevation Burger, which is looking to open its first North Carolina location at Brier Creek. They serve organic, grass-fed, free range beef burgers.
Donatos Pizza, an Ohio-based chain, is opening a new pizza joint at Seaboard Station in Raleigh next week. They are famous for their "edge-to-edge" pizza – toppings covering the entire pie. They open the doors on Wednesday.
We are learning more about Jimmy V's Osteria and Bar, which is expected to open this summer in downtown Raleigh. Scott Chatterton has been announced as the executive chef. His resume includes running the kitchen at the Phoenix Park Hotel on Capitol Hill, where he cooked for many high powered government officials. Jimmy V's will have an Italian-American inspired menu that will include Jim Valvano's renowned meatball recipe . The restaurant will be located adjacent to the Sheraton Hotel and will donate a portion of all proceeds to the Jimmy V Foundation. They are expected to open by mid-July.
A new Mexican restaurant is in the works in Wake Forest. Tlaquepaque Mexican will be located in the old O'Charley's location, across from the old Carolina Smokehouse Grill. No word on when they are going to open. It looked like they were in the early stages, but they do have a banner.
A new brewery is headed to Durham. The Independent Weekly first reported about Ponysaurus (best name!) this week. They are operating out of The Cookery. Their logo is a great mix between a T-Rex and a unicorn.
Some coffee news. New Raleigh is reporting that a new coffee shop, Undergrounds, has opened in the North Carolina History Museum. The shop has Raleigh Coffee Company beans.
In the retail world, popular apparel store H&M is having a grand opening for its Triangle Town Center location on June 27.
