Triangle gets full blast of summer to start week
The high temperature Monday will push 90 degrees, and the warm day brings a slight chance for thunderstorms.
Posted — UpdatedTuesday will again feel like summer before a weak cold front cools down the rest of the week.
"We still have yet to hit the 90-degree mark this spring," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, "but we may see that tomorrow."
Monday dawned with widely scattered showers and humid conditions, and the day promises to be very warm and sticky. By noon, temperatures will top 80 degrees with a forecast high of 88.
The chance for thunderstorms rises late in the afternoon, but any storms will be widespread, Gardner said.
Tuesday will see more of the same – a humid morning under partly cloudy skies followed by an increasingly warm afternoon and the slight chance for thunderstorms.
