RALEIGH, N.C. — Food truck fans will notice something exciting happening at a Downtown Raleigh familiar spot. The Berkeley Café will have what some have called a "Takeover Tuesday." Each Tuesday a food truck chef will takeover the kitchen and present a menu similar to what is found at a pop-up dinner. The food trucks involved currently are Bam Pow Chow, BulKogi, KocinA, Manna and Sol Tacos. The first event will highlight Sol Tacos on Aug. 11.

Food Trucks and Television

As we reported earlier this summer, The Great Food Truck Race was filming down Route 66. What we know now is the Season 6 premiere date - Aug. 23 at 9 p.m. Local food truck fans will notice Pho Nomenal Dumpling is one of the contestants in this year’s race. Based on the episode synopsis, the food trucks will race from Santa Monica, California to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. It is here contestants will have to sell their twist on Fish and Chips. By the season finale, one food truck will win $50,000.
Also, we learned that Chef Paul Inserra with American Meltdown will compete in the Food Network show Cutthroat Kitchen. The social media announcement mentioned the episode will air on Aug. 23. Looks like local food truck fans’ DVRs and TVs will be working hard this night.

Weekend Events

Johnson County Food Truck Festival is happening Saturday, Aug. 1 at The Farm in Selma.
