Just a heads up if you're in downtown Raleigh and looking for a treat with your kids.

Treat, an ice cream shop, opened up earlier this year, at 305 S. Blount St., off Moore Square in City Market. The shop includes a variety of ice cream flavors, including seasonal selections such as pumpkin, apple cinnamon and butterscotch right now. There also are gluten-free and vegan-friendly options.

The menu features some pretty amazing ice cream concoctions like the RTP Worker Bee with honey toasted almond ice cream, honey, slivered almonds, cinnamon, yellow and chocolate sprinkles and the Solomon Grundy with cookies and cream ice cream, chocolate syrup, crushed Oreo cookie "dirt," gummy worms and green sprinkles. There are also ice cream floats, coffee, milkshakes and more.

And there are some family-friendly specials such as a free mini-cone on your birthday and deals if you go in with a Marbles Kids Museum admission sticker.

It all started, according to the website, when a dad fielded a request for ice cream after a trip to the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences. I'm pretty sure I'll be over there soon with my kids. It's open Tuesday through Sunday.
