Five Points resurfacing job won't be finished in time
Resurfacing work on Glenwood Avenue near the Five Points area in Raleigh won't be complete until mid-September, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said Thursday.

Unexpected delays because of infrastructure repairs are to blame for the delay.
The work was supposed to be finished by the end of August.
Crews, however, do plan to have all four lanes of Glenwood, where it intersects and Fairview and Whitaker Mill roads, open by late August.
They will then close one lane at a time until the job is complete.
Workers have to lower water and gas lines because the old 6-inch concrete road is being replaced by a 13-inch deep asphalt road.
While tearing up the old road, crews also found that they had to repair and replace much of the storm drainage system, including an 800-foot section of pipe that runs from Harvey Street to the nearby Rialto Theatre.
The work is part of a bigger $1.7 million resurfacing of Glenwood, from Wade Avenue to Women's Club Drive.
