DOT to begin rehabilitating I-440 section in Wake
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is rehabilitating 5.6 miles of Interstate 440 from Wade Avenue to Wake Forest Road in Raleigh beginning Monday.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is rehabilitating 5.6 miles of Interstate 440 from Wade Avenue to Wake Forest Road in Raleigh beginning Monday.
The $3.6 million contract was awarded to Rea Contracting, LLC of Raleigh. Work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 30.
Work will include milling, resurfacing and shoulder construction. The project also includes work on the ramps at the Six Forks Road, Glenwood Avenue and Lake Boone Trail exits.
Lanes can only be closed at night from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., with at least one lane of traffic open at all times.
According to the Federal Highway Administration, every $1 million spent on transportation creates 30 jobs.
The DOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
